Uma repórter da Flórida, nos Estados Unidos, descobriu um tumor cancerígeno na tireóide após uma telespectadora estranhar o inchaço em seu pescoço. Victoria Price, do WFLA News, contou a história no Twitter e no Instagram nessa quinta-feira.

Ela revelou que o e-mail da telespectadora que culminou com a descoberta era bem simples: "Olá, acabei de ver sua reportagem. O que me preocupou é o inchaço no seu pescoço.Por favor, verifique sua tireóide. Me lembrou do meu pescoço. O meu acabou sendo câncer. Cuide-se", dizia. 

Victoria contou que, desde o início da pandemia, atuando diretamente na cobertura do combate ao novo coronavírus, ela não tem tido tempo para cuidar da própria saúde. "Até que uma telespectadora me mandou um email no mês passado", escreveu. COVID created some diagnostic delays but I'll finally be undergoing surgery this Monday to remove the tumor, my thyroid, and a couple of the nearby lymph nodes. Doctor says it's spreading, but not too much, and we're hopeful this will be my first and last procedure. Had I never received that email, I never would have called my doctor. The cancer would have continued to spread. It's a scary and humbling thought. I will forever be thankful to the woman who went out of her way to email me, a total stranger. She had zero obligation to, but she did anyway. Talk about being on your side, huh? The world is a tough place these days. Don't forget to take care of yourself. Take care of each other. Ela será submetida a uma cirurgia para remover o tumor e alguns linfonodos. "O médico diz que está se espalhando, mas não muito, e esperamos que este seja o meu primeiro e último procedimento", pontuou. "Se eu nunca tivesse recebido esse e-mail, nunca teria ligado para o meu médico. O câncer continuaria a se espalhar. É um pensamento assustador", completou ela, agradecendo por ter recebido a mensagem. "Serei eternamente grata à mulher que se esforçou para me enviar um e-mail, uma total estranha", escreveu.
